Paul Nicholson has been recognized at the local, State and National level for his work in 911 education. All the children's artwork in this site were given to Paul as a thank you for teaching his 911 education class.





04/18/2019 Educator of the Year award for 18 years of dedicated service to teaching children how and when to call 911.

3/26/16 North Coast Kiwanis award – Champions for Children for dedication in teaching 911 to kindergarten – 2nd grade children how/when to call 911 for many years.

10/12/14 – Humboldt County Firefighters Award - Lifetime Honorary Humboldt Bay Local 652 Firefighter for distinguished service to the community and unwavering support of Humboldt Bay Fire.

5/22/14 – California Highway Patrol Certificate of Commendation for partnering with the CHP in facilitating Start Smart Teen Driving.

1/20/12 - League of Women’s Voters of Humboldt County 2012 Civic Contribution Award due to dedication and excellent work with children regarding 911 and service to Humboldt County.

4/9/11 – Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the U S House of Representatives and an authentic American flag that had flown over the Capitol building in Washington D.C. in Paul’s name. Presented to Paul from Congressman Mike Thompson, First Congressional District of California.

3/29/11 – 911 National Honors Program in Washington D.C.  Received Citizen In Action Award for showing deep commitment to 911 education and awareness for so many years.

5/20/10 – 911 for Kids Hero’s Award – 2010 California Outstanding Education Leadership Award for teaching children kindergarten through 2nd grade how/when to call 911. Paul's program taught a young boy about 911 for years and when he was in 3rd grade, he called 911 to save his mom. The young man credited Paul for teaching him what to do in an emergency.

3/6/09 - Humboldt County Schools Board of Education – Received award for monetary contribution and time securing the Fatal Vision Goggles to be used by the County High Schools for teaching future teenage drivers about drunk and distracted driving.

5/16/07 - Eureka City Schools Apple Pin Award – For personal commitment, dedication and outstanding service to the Eureka City Schools teaching 911 to children.

1/31/06 – Red Cross Hero’s Award – Good Samaritan Award for teaching children kindergarten through 2nd grade how/when to call 911.
